Thanks, Allan & Dan! It's a funny gift, but I really need the encouragement. Especially from people who work in the same place:) The last shift was a bit more challenging than most nights-- 8 patients total. Really sick patients. Working with sick people is fine-- it's my job. But seeing dying/dead people (and their families) is difficult. I don't care what anyone else says-- it affects you in some way. For me, it never really sinks in until after the shift is over. Anyways, can't think about it too long. Gotta keep moving. And doing something. My music is making me happy. Here, the last 10 songs on my iTunes shuffle:
  • Trouble in Mind-- covered by Johnny Cash
  • Is This Love-- Bob Marley song by guy with guitar who plays in Union Square (don't remember his name)
  • Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime-- Amelie soundtrack by Yann Tiersen
  • Anna (Go to Him)-- The Beatles
  • Funny How Time Slips Away-- Al Green
  • Say Hello Wave Goodbye-- David Gray
  • Piece of My Heart-- Janis Joplin
  • People Everyday-- Arrested Development
  • Just Like Heaven-- The Cure
  • Sweetest Thing-- Lauryn Hill
Gonna take a walk up to 86th Street. I'm so glad I have the weekend off!!! Update: Is This Love cover by Jahstix

Save the Dates are done!

Wednesday night in Bay Ridge

I'm definitely getting used to working night shift, although I'm sure my body doesn't appreciate staying awake for 30 hours at a time, and then crashing and sleeping for another 16 hours straight, every other day. I'm getting used to only see about 2 hours of sunlight most days (on the train and walking home) so now I've just accepted the fact that I'm too tired to go out during the day (for almost everyone else, it's equivalent to going for a walk at 3 am) and am trying to embrace my schedule. So I'm taking more shots at night. I guess I better get good at it. Something else I'm working on: Seeded Rib Easy Reversible Scarf Row 1: K3, * P1, K3 * Row 2: K1, * P1, K3 *, end with P1, K1 Pattern from this blog. Although I'd like my bridesmaids to choose their own dresses, I still need to decide on a color. I didn't know there were so many shades of green! And so the endless browsing continues...

Went to the Clay Pot in Park Slope, Brooklyn to order our rings. I love their selection, if only I could wear (and afford!) more than one band!

Obama. Everywhere.

NPR did a little piece on page turners yesterday, considering them as "the unsung heroes of the musical stage." It reminded me of when I used to turn pages for my piano teacher during her concerts/recitals, and also of how nerve-wrecking it was! Losing my spot on the page, forgetting to repeat, grabbing 2 pages instead of one... I'd love to do it again though, as it's an extraordinary experience to be on the stage of a concert hall, soaking in all the music-- but it's an obscure job that's usually reserved for piano students, which I can no longer classify myself as!

Playing around with some photos, this one of Neil taken at a gas station in Wisconsin. Today, Conte Catering did a party for a child's first birthday on the Upper East Side. The menu:

Short and simple event.
