Melancholia

Catching up with my Netflix queue. This may be the first Lars von Trier movie I actually really liked... mostly because it was so gorgeous to watch. Visually stunning film accompanied by Wagner's music as the main theme-- I didn't even mind the hand-held camera movement!

Read a bit on the story line and just saw the trailer. Looks very interesting with a lot visual eye candy, conceptual driven. This look like a movie not for the regular. Check out Blue Valentine, if you haven't already. Not much visual, but great acting and directing.

I saw Blue Valentine-- the acting was great, but it was a bit depressing!

I have to be honest- I didn't like the first half of the movie because Justine's attitude and what she did on the golf coarse (I was also watching this really late at night). However, after watching the movie in its entirety the following day, it made the first half more understandable and I liked the movie as a whole.

I think it pace of the movie and the cinematography captured the hopelessness Justine was feeling.
