"So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man''s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun."

Christopher McCandless, from Jon Krakauer's Into the Wild

Note that this was written by someone who ironically died pursuing his great "Alaskan Odyssey" adventure... but something to think about nonetheless. Good book so far.

I envy this man for dying while in pursuit of adventure. really, how many people would risk everything to start anew? very few because they are afraid of uncertainty and change.
having a passion for life, I believe in that quote and try to live by it- one day at a time. uncertainty, challenges, trials bring out our character as human beings, not in the moments of triumph, which is the culmination of hard work. but it doesn't stop there.
